Puakea Golf Course
No. 8 – Par 5
Here is your opportunity to swing out of your shoes and rip one down the fairway. There is no little trouble in the landing area, and big hitters have a green light to go for the green in two.
The hole angles slightly right for the second shot, where a series of five bunkers up the right side and one on the left narrow the fairway. However, many players will be able to hit their second shots beyond those bunkers and reach a wide area short of the green to set up a short approach.
The green is very deep and relatively narrow. A bunker in front and two more on the right side leave an opening from short left of the green. If you want to reach the green in two, you’ll need to carry that front bunker. It’s a great risk/reward choice that’s hard to pass up if you have the length to reach it, as sand is the only trouble near the green.
