How would you play it?
--
A downwind hole to start your day, the opener at Puakea nevertheless comes with its share of challenges. A creek follows the fairway down the right side, gradually pinching the landing area the farther you go. A framing bunker on the left side 138 yards from the green magnifies that effect, encouraging longer hitters to go with something less than a driver off the tee.

The creek crosses in front of the green about 60 yards short and angles along the left side. While not tight up against the green, this hazard still serves its purpose of getting your attention. The long green slopes from right to left, and the front portion tilts away from the fairway to create a partially blind effect.

Your best chance at making a putt comes from the lower, left side of the green, which also brings that creek into play. Keep in mind it’s very difficult to chip close from short or right of this green.
